Peanut Butter Blossom Cookies

    Prep: Heat oven to 375°. Remove wrappers from chocolates.

    Make dough: Beat shortening and peanut butter in large bowl until well-blended. Add 1/3 cup sugar & brown sugar. Beat until fluffy. Add egg, milk, and vanilla. Beat well. In separate bowl, stir together flour, baking soda, and salt. Gradually beat into peanut butter mixture.

    Roll: Shape dough into 1-inch balls. Roll in sugar, if desired. Place on ungreased cookie sheet.

    Bake: Bake 8-10 minutes or until lightly browned. Immediately press a chocolate into center of each cookie. Remove from cookie sheet & place on wire rack to cool completely.

Notes

Makes about 48 cookies.
